  • Director of Marketing for Card Business, TCG.

    Reports To: Senior Director, Organized Play, Marketing & Events Subordinates: Marketing Manager, Online Manager, Marketing Video Producer/Editor POSITION SUMMARY: A strong self-starter with experience managing top-tier consumer brands with new product marketing and strategic campaigns, with an emphasis on digital campaigns, that target boys 8 - 14. Candidates should have solid business acumen, cross functional leadership skills, ability to multi-task numerous projects, be a team player and desire to manage the world’s No. 1 TCG.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Work with Marketing Manager to develop and execute comprehensive strategies for the marketing of the Yu-Gi-Oh! TRADING CARD GAME (TCG), including, but not limited to target market identification and analysis, budgeting, and category and competitive analysis, with a focus on new user acquisition and ROI.
    • Oversee annual budgets for Marketing within Card Business.
    • Oversee inter-departmental collaboration with Organized Play, Sales, Digital Marketing, and R&D to ensure KDE-US Marketing efforts are focused on growing brand awareness, driving franchise relevancy, and supporting audience growth across Yu-Gi-Oh! titles.
    • Coordinate with EU branch on all joint marketing initiatives including but not limited to; Content Creator activations, use of assets from both prizing and for sale items, use of TVCM and other KDE-US created assets. Work with EU branch Marketing on budgeting for shared agencies and resources such as Asana, etc.
    • Coordinate with the Digital Team to ensure Digital Marketing efforts are being cross promoted with TCG Marketing whenever possible.
    • Work with Sales & Marketing to develop retailer promotions and trade advertising.
    • Work with Marketing Manager, Marketing Video producer/editor, and R&D to create compelling content (both written and video) to maximize a cohesive marketing message and increase sell-through. Set campaign KPIs and own the measurement and evaluation processes.
    • Work with Digital Product Marketing Team, Marketing Manager, Online Manager, and Senior Social Media Specialist on social media to create online and social media marketing campaigns, to create buzz, maximize exposure and sell-through of all physical and digital titles. Keep abreast of digital trends and develop strategies with the wider team to capitalize on new trends to drive the business.
    • Work with the Digital Product Marketing, Director of Organized Play, and Online Manger to ensure the Yu-Gi-Oh! website has the most up-to-date information and is promoting the Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG, Events and Digital Titles.
    • Work with Marketing Manager to grow the Yu-Gi-Oh! Content Creator program. Ensure there is communication with the Digital Marketing team for their use of official Yu-Gi-Oh! Content Creators and other influencers and ensuring that all Content Creators in the program are compliant with the guidelines within the program.
    • Work with Marketing Manager to ensure the placement of online, print and TV advertising and the development of key assets including ad copy, scripts and editorial messaging is completed and campaign reporting is submitted on time with ROI details.
    • Ensure reporting and analysis of all marketing activities are submitted on a timely basis.
    • Work with Marketing Manager to craft integrated marketing plans with other licensees.
    • Work with Director of Organized Play to make sure all OP activities are properly promoted.
    • Work with Director Organized Play, Event and Organized Play Manager, and Marketing Manager for trade and consumer show participation, including the creation of promotional items, maximizing key marketing messages and strategy.
    • Lead analysis of competitor marketing and share insights back with internal stakeholders.

     

     

     

    QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS:

    • BA/BS required. MBA preferred.
    • A minimum of 7 years’ experience marketing to kids required.
    • Knowledge of, or the willingness to learn the intimate workings of Card Business TCGs, including gameplay, REQUIRED.
    • Enthusiasm for and knowledge of the collectible or trading card games required.
    • Ability to work with limited supervision. The Director will work independently or with a cross-functional team to complete assignments. S/he should not need detailed instruction to achieve objectives. Personal initiative and sound business judgment required to identify, evaluate, and respond to business needs.
    • Strong presentation skills. Good oral and written communications skills.

  • Organized Play Specialist

    A strong self-starter with exceptional organizational skills that supports and assists the OP and Events Manager for the Americas. In addition, this position entails coordinating logistics, reporting and tournament support for all Card Business IP. Candidate should also have solid business acumen, cross-functional skills, ability to multi-task numerous projects, be a team player and desire to work on all Card Business IP.

    Responsibilities:

    • Work with the OP team on scheduling, execution and reporting of Regional Qualifiers and all other Tier 2 Events (OTS Championships, Dragon Duels and Extravaganzas).
    • Be the main point of contact for each Tournament Organizer (TO) who is hosting a Tier 2 or higher event.
    • Ensure our website has the current FAQs and event listings for Tier 2 and higher events at least one month before the events start.
    • Keep track of data that is acquired from Tier 2 and higher events, such as invites awarded, disqualifications issue, event paperwork, invoices and judge information.
    • Ensure all TO’s have necessary documents to run their events at least 1 month prior to event date.
    • Ensure all TO’s purchase necessary product to run their events at least 21 days prior to event date.
    • Ensure all prizing for events are shipped out in time for each event, work with OP and Events Manager to set deadlines.
    • Work with the Organized Play team on other initiatives to grow the Yu-Gi-Oh! player base and increase attendance at Tier 2 and higher events.
    • Be able to assist with onsite duties at Tier 3 and higher events (Yu-Gi-Oh! Championship Series, National Championships, World Championship Qualifiers and the World Championship).
    • Work with Organized Play team to forecast promotional inventory needs, maintain accurate inventory, and ensure all prizing is ordered on time to hit deadlines set by OP and Events Manager.
    • Work with Organized Play team to ensure all invoices are being processed at the latest 1 week after receipt.
    • Work with OP Assistant to draft Purchase Orders on various projects while maintaining communication with OP and Events Manager to ensure that deadlines set are being met.
    • Maintain and update procedural and operational documents for all OP programs.
    • Coordinate with the Organized Play Team so North and Latin America regions have the most up-to-date version of these documents.

    The successful candidate will possess:

    • Strong leadership, decision making, and analytical skills.
    • Excellent interpersonal communication (verbal and written) and presentation skills.
    • Ability to perform duties under minimal supervision while exercising discretion and independent judgment.

  • Organized Play Assistant

    An individual contributor that supports the Card Business Organized Play (OP) team, coordinating shipping, logistics and tournament support for all Card Business IP.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Scheduling and minute-taking of meetings.
    • Help the OP Specialist and Coordinator process all tournament paperwork, including but not limited to requesting invoices from tournament organizers, proof of payments, data entering earned invites and preparing all documentation for final invoice pay outs.
    • Approve tournaments in the Online Tournament Software or KONAMI Card Game Network (KCGN) submitted by our tournament organizers (TO’s), upload any tournament files for Official Tournament Stores (OTS) to KCGN when needed and educate our OTS’ on this process.
    • Assist in reaching out to OTS’, help gather pending reports for in-store events and assist with educating our OTS’ on how to properly report events, including but not limited to Remote Duel Series, OTS Championship, VIP Qualifiers, Regional Qualifiers, Release Celebrations, Yu-Gi-Oh! Day, local level in-store events, etc.
    • Draft Purchase Orders for the OP team on various projects while maintaining communication with the OP Specialist – Americas to ensure that deadlines set by management are being met.
    • Gather all Featured OTS applications, organize meeting with our local distributor and internal team to discuss candidates.
    • Make sure the Spanish and Portuguese website translations are prepared and up to date with the English website.
    • Learn to operate offline and online tournament software.
    • Assist the Organized Play Coordinator – Americas with:
      • Packaging and shipping OP and event items, including but not limited to Regional Qualifiers, Yu-Gi-Oh! Championship Series, World Championship Qualifiers, store-level events and judge compensation items.
      • Organizing and maintaining accurate inventory of OP prize support.
      • Organizing and maintaining of the OP storage areas.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Ability to lift at least 50lbs.
    • Must have great organizational skills.
    • Should demonstrate the ability to work under pressure.
    • High sense of confidentiality.
    • Experience with Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
    • Ability to accurately process and data enter information.
