Announcing a new multiplayer battle that lets you link 2 PSPs together, using Ad Hoc mode!
Link Battles are played as 2-on-2 tag matches, with each player controlling a Snake & Teliko team. The match ends when one team eliminates the other, or collects enough items and reaches the goal.
|
| #1 - Defeat your opponent |
Reduce your multiplayer opponent's remaining play credits to zero.
(Each time a player is defeated, his or her remaining play credits will decrease by one.)
|
| #2 - Collect items, and head for the goal that appears |
When you defeat an enemy soldier on the field, he drops a disk-shaped item called a "Pythagoras."
Collect three of these disks, and goals will appear in all four corners of the field. Only one of these is the real goal - run into it to win.
|
| #3 - Have the most Pythagoras disks when time runs out |
When time runs out, the team with the most Pythagoras disks wins.
(If both teams have the same number, the match ends in a tie.)

Link Battle Tactic #1
Find the enemy before he finds you. |
In Link Battle, you can only see those enemies who are in your team's line of sight. In other words, this is one big game of hide-and seek, between your team and the enemy team.
The trick is to find the enemy, without being seen. When you can't see the enemy, all you've got to rely on is your wits and your instincts.
And don't forget that there are other enemy soldiers out there, besides your opponent. If they see you and attack, your opponent will find out where you are. In other words, if the enemy finds you, you're as good as dead. Keep that in mind.
|
Link Battle Tactic #2
When you find the enemy, blind him. |
If you've managed to spot an enemy, without being seen yourself, that's your cue to attack. In a Link Battle, by attacking and damaging an enemy, you can blind him temporarily. When an enemy is blinded, almost none of his attacks will work. That means that getting the drop on your opponent is the key to success.
Here, too, enemy soldiers are an important factor. If an enemy soldier spots you and attacks, you'll be blinded in the same way, so stay alert.

Link Battle Tactic #3
Don't underestimate the importance of the Pythagoras disk. |
In Normal Mode, all you have to do is defeat the enemy. But in a Link Battle, it's not enough just to shoot blindly at your opponent.
Enter the Pythagoras disk -- an item that adds a whole new level of strategy to Link Battles.
|
For example, here's one strategy that you can use in a Link Battle. If you defeat Snake and then defeat Teliko, the team will use up one of its remaining play credits, and both characters will come back to life. However, if you defeat Snake and then blind Teliko, your opponent won't be able to tag out, leaving them practically helpless. Now just collect three Pythagoras disks, and find the goal.
On the other hand, if your strategy is to fight your opponent, collecting just one Pythagoras disk will leave your opponent with no choice but to fight back.
It might not seem like the Pythagoras disk has much of a direct impact on the match, but depending on the strategy you choose, it can become a crucial factor. Keep that in mind as you plan your attack.

Link Battle Tactic #4
Remember there are some cards that can't be used in a Link Battle. |
|
Link Battle has special rules that forbid the use of certain cards.
|
| Med. Recover (cost -8) |
Big Recover (cost -12) |
| Jonathan (cost -20) |
Phase Down |
This is to ensure that the game is balanced and fair - that you can't finish the match without even giving your opponent a chance to move.
In other words, victory depends on who is better able to control their cost.
|

There are 4 different fields available in Link Battle mode, each with its own unique characteristics.
The field to be used is chosen at random each time you play, so there's no use in trying to plan ahead, and building a deck geared toward a specific field.
You'll just have to find the ultimate combination that will always give you the upper hand, no matter what the situation!
