Konami Digital Entertainment Co., Ltd. is delighted to announce that Castlevania: Belmont's Curse, the latest installment in the Castlevania series, scheduled for release on Thursday, October 15, has won the Future Division Award at the Japan Game Awards 2026, hosted by the Computer Entertainment Suppliers Association (CESA).
The Japan Game Awards is an awards program that has been held since 1996 with the aim of recognizing computer entertainment software as a cultural form, promoting its growth, and contributing to the development of the industry. The Future Division Awards, which were recently presented, are given to promising pre-release games that were announced and exhibited at Tokyo Game Show 2026, regardless of whether they were exhibited in person or online. This year, ten highly evaluated titles out of 537 entries were selected as the winners, following a public vote by users and evaluation by a selection committee.
Castlevania: Belmont's Curse, which won the Future Division Award this year, is a 2D action-exploration game developed jointly by KONAMI, Evil Empire, and Motion Twin. The story unfolds in Paris, France, in 1499, 23 years after the events in Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse, a popular entry in the mainline series. Rose Belmont, daughter of Trevor Belmont—the legendary hero who slew Dracula—continues the legacy as she explores the streets of Paris and Dracula's castle, slaying monsters with various weapons and skills, including the holy whip "Vampire Killer."
