Konami Digital Entertainment Co., Ltd. is delighted to announce that its psychological horror game SILENT HILL f has received the Award for Excellence in the Game of the Year Division at Japan Game Awards 2026, hosted by the Computer Entertainment Supplier's Association (CESA).
The Game of the Year Division selects and honors outstanding games released in Japan between June 1, 2025, and May 31, 2026, that represent the best titles of the year. The Award for Excellence winners were selected through a combination of public voting and evaluation by the Japan Game Awards selection committee.
SILENT HILL f is a new psychological horror game, the first in the SILENT HILL series set in Japan. It was built around the concept of "find the beauty in terror," featuring a realistic and immersive story as well as visual design. In April of this year, SILENT HILL f surpassed two million units shipped worldwide and received critical acclaim for its 4K depiction of old Japan, evocative sound design, evolved action and gameplay, and deeply immersive narrative experience, leading to this award.

We are truly honored to receive this prestigious award. We took on many new challenges with this title because it's the first game in the series to be set in Japan, and in terms of game design, we took a new approach to combat. We are thrilled that our game has been received so well—we not only garnered support from long-time fans, but we also saw an influx of new fans experiencing the series for the first time.
The story was written by Ryukishi07, renowned for his work on numerous acclaimed horror titles, and the creature and character designs were handled by kera. The music features an all-star lineup of composers, including Akira Yamaoka, who has contributed many tracks to the series, as well as Kensuke Inage, who has extensive experience in anime and video game music.
We also had the voice cast doing motion capture for the first time, and they delivered outstanding performances. Last but not least, NeoBards Entertainment did a masterful job of designing the game and bringing everything together. We couldn't have done it without the help of these key members and the development team.
