Momotaro Dentetsu Ready to Help Revitalize Japan
Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan (EXPO 2025) "Regional Revitalization SDGs Festival" will be starting on May 28!

Konami Digital Entertainment Co., Ltd. (KONAMI) is excited to announce that in collaboration with the Office for the Promotion of Regional Revitalization, the "Regional Revitalization SDGs Festival in Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan(EXPO 2025)" will be starting on Wednesday, May 28. In addition, a portal site called the "Momotaro Dentetsu Blank Map" will be launched in conjunction with the event to continue promoting regional revitalization SDGs through the charming world of Momotaro Dentetsu.

The “Regional Revitalization SDGs Festival” is a five-day event that will be held at the Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan’s EXPO Messe "WASSE" from May 28 (Wed) to June 1 (Sun). Visitors can learn about the regional revitalization SDGs at the forefront of local government agendas aiming to create a sustainable society by playing through Momotaro Dentetsu content, which explores solutions to regional issues in fun and engaging ways.

At the venue, 52 participating municipalities will promote their regional attractions through the use of colorful characters and gimmicks from Momotaro Dentetsu. Visitors will be able to experience the charms of various regions across Japan in a game-inspired space where the world of the game is brought to real life. In addition, visitors will be able to enjoy the event even more by exploring the venue and getting “Momotaro Dentetsu” goodies, among other things, through smartphone content available exclusively at the “Regional Revitalization SDGs Festival.”

In addition, we are preparing the Momotaro Dentetsu Blank Map as a PR project to widely publicize regional revitalization SDGs initiatives, capitalizing on the publicity of the Expo 2025 . The Momotaro Dentetsu Blank Map is a web service that allows local governments across Japan to register recommended sightseeing spots, specialties, and regional development efforts as Momotaro Dentetsu "properties" and highlight them in a more interesting way. The map will be exhibited at the Regional Revitalization SDGs Festival, so be sure to stop by and check it out. We will continue to cooperate in the promotion of regional revitalization SDGs by maintaining the Momotaro Dentetsu Blank Map as a portal site.

Momotaro Dentetsu has been enjoyed by people of all ages for over 35 years as a national board game. In the game, players travel around Japan in a Sugoroku (backgammon-like) format and purchase local specialties and landmarks as properties. This gameplay lends itself well to regional development, leading to numerous collaborations with railroad companies, theme parks, museums, and other organizations across the country.

In order to more effectively contribute to regional revitalization using Momotaro Dentetsu content, we will partner with the Office for Promotion of Regional Revitalization as well as local governments across Japan to promote Regional Revitalization SDGs.

Momotaro Dentetsu is a board game that has been enjoyed for 35 years since the first game was launched in 1988. Players take on the role of the president of a railroad company and travel around the country, buying up properties with the aim of becoming the number one company in Japan. "Momotaro Dentetsu: Showa, Heisei, Reiwa Mo Teiban!", released in 2020, has sold more than 4 million units (as of the end of 2023), and the latest game, "Momotaro Dentetsu World: Chikyuu wa Kibou de Mawatteru!" , released in November 2023, has shipped more than 1.5 million units (as of December 2024).
