Castlevania Rondo of Blood

The momentous 10th Castlevania game, a magnum opus that draws upon the full power of CD-ROM!

  • Release date:29/10/1993
  • Platform:PC Engine Super CD-ROM2

Story

It was a golden age, when the people sought only peace and plenty, and not a soul thought that days of unrest would ever come.

However, behind every time of peace and plenty there inevitably lurk those with evil in their hearts and the will to deny this prosperity, to bring corruption to the peace.
Those who seek to bring forth the forces of darkness once again and remake this unclean world have gathered.
They smile, their hearts swelling with expectation for the coming genesis.

After 100 years, a being of great evil returned to the world. This being could change his form into that of a bat, a wolf, or mist, and was particularly fond of those hours when the sun hid its face.
By draining the blood of young women, he retained life unending....
Count Dracula, the god of the wicked-hearted, the lord of the Demon Castle, walked the Earth once more.

Game

The first Castlevania on CD-ROM!

The PC Engine version of Castlevania: Rondo of Blood marks the first installment of the series on CD-ROM. Thanks to the copious storage capacity of the CD-ROM medium, Rondo of Blood introduced real voice-acting, animated cutscenes, and a gorgeous soundtrack to great effect. At the same time it was also a smash hit among Castlevania fans. Rondo of Blood expanded the scope of the series with an experience fine-tuned for the PC Engine audience by adding unique new characters like Maria and keeping the focus on fun by toning down the difficulty. However, Rondo is also an extremely polished game that is often regarded as the best action title in the history of the PC Engine. As it happens, the "X" in the title refers to Rondo being the tenth release in the series.
