Creating New User Experiences

For more than five decades, KONAMI has offered unique new game content and user experiences in its Digital Entertainment Business by responding to changing customer needs.
Starting with the manufacturing and sales of amusement machines (arcade games) in the early 1970s, we began manufacturing video games along with the release of video game consoles in the 1980s. From 2010, we started developing and distributing mobile games for rapidly-spreading portable devices, including smartphones and tablets.
In recent years, we have begun offering titles on cloud gaming platforms and multiple devices to further strengthen subscription type services.
We will continue our challenge to the next innovation by fully leveraging the capabilities of high-performance devices and advanced technologies, including latest mobile communication systems such as "5G," "AI" and "AR."
As a leading esports company, we are working to create a new user experience in esports, where games are viewed as competitions, by holding tournaments and events online so that people can enjoy them even in the current restricted condition.

and Stimulation of esports

KONAMI has held World Championships for Winning Eleven series (known overseas as PES series) since 2001, World Championships for "Yu-Gi-Oh! TRADING CARD GAME" since 2003. And in 2016 started Japan Championships for JIKKYOU PAWAFURU PUROYAKYU series.
In 2020, the esports GINZA studio, a facility dedicated to esports distribution, the esports GINZA store, a hands-on showroom for esports devices, and the esports GINZA school, a facility to train people to be active in the world of esports, opened at our new business base, Konami Creative Center Ginza. We are engaging in even more initiatives for the expansion and stimulation of esports.

2019
"eJ.LEAGUE Winning Eleven 2019" kicked off in cooperation with Japan Professional Football League (J.LEAGUE).
Holding of the second season for 2020 is also confirmed.
Selected as part of the culture program for Japan's 74th National Sports Festival and cooperated to the event.
A new esports league "eFootball League 2019-20 season" started in collaboration with its partner clubs.

2018
Established "eBASEBALL Pawapuro Pro League" in cooperation with the Nippon Professional Baseball Organization (NPB) as the first NPB esports league.(League name changed to "eBASEBALL Pro League" in 2019)
Holding of the third season for 2020 is also confirmed.

Yu-Gi-Oh! series
2019 "Yu-Gi-Oh! CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES JAPAN(YCSJ)" was held as a major domestic tournament to select the player to be seeded to the World Championships.
"Yu-Gi-Oh! WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP 2019" was held to decide the World No. 1 Duelist for "Yu-Gi-Oh! TRADING CARD GAME" and "Yu-Gi-Oh! DUEL LINKS."
2020 "KC Grand Tournament" took place online using the mobile game "Yu-Gi-Oh! DUEL LINKS."

Developing High-Quality Content Using Latest Technology

KONAMI has developed an array of high-quality content by incorporating cutting-edge technology.
The Winning Eleven series (known overseas as PES series) uses 3D full-body scans of players and high-precision 3D scans of existing stadiums to create a more realistic gaming experience where players feel like they are actually there.
The PROFESSIONAL BASEBALL SPIRITS series also uses 3D scanning technology to capture the likeness of all the players in the 12 teams from 360 degrees for high graphical fidelity of their facial details and playing forms.
In addition, each player has its own AI based on seasonal statistics, adding to the authentic feel of the game.
Other technologies include VR support for "ANUBIS ZONE OF THE ENDERS: M∀RS" and "eBASEBALL PAWAFURU PUROYAKYU 2020," and AR duels at the "Yu-Gi-Oh! TRADING CARD GAME" world championship.
KONAMI makes ongoing efforts to create new user experiences by employing an array of the latest technologies.

KONAMI has a multitude of high-profile titles both in Japan and overseas, such as the Winning Eleven, METAL GEAR and JIKKYOU PAWAFURU PUROYAKYU series, which have sold over 110.4 million, 56.5 million and 23.4 million copies worldwide respectively. 2020 marks the 25th Anniversary of the PES franchise and the 3rd Anniversary of the mobile version of PES.
