KONAMI Gymnast Kohei Uchimura Throws Ceremonial First Pitch at KONAMI Nippon Series 2011

KONAMI Nippon Series 2011 (hosted by Nippon Professional Baseball and sponsored by KONAMI CORPORATION) held its second game on November 13th, Sunday, at the Fukuoka Yahoo! Japan Dome?with KONAMI Gymnastics Team athlete Kohei Uchimura stepping up to the mound to deliver the ceremonial first pitch.

Uchimura competed in the Artistic Gymnastics World Championships Tokyo 2011, held in October, making history as the first ever to win gold in the men’s all-around for 3 consecutive years. Uchimura is a member of the Japanese National Gymnastics Team, and is expected to continue to amaze and astound for many more competitions to come.

The young gymnast's throw was met with resounding cheers from the stands. He later commented, "It was an honor to deliver the ceremonial first pitch at the greatest professional baseball event in Japan. Watching the players perform on the field with such skill always fills me with energy. I'd like to do the same with my gymnastics, and reach out to as many people as I possibly can."
