Six Years on: In Remembrance of the Great East Japan Earthquake
The Konami Group Reconstruction Support for the Affected Areas in 2016

March 11, 2017

KONAMI HOLDINGS CORPORATION

This day marked the 6th anniversary of the Great East Japan Earthquake that devastated areas in and around the Tohoku region.
We grieve deeply for all those who lost their lives and offer our heartfelt sympathies to those who are still affected by the aftermath.

In an effort to contribute to the early restoration of the affected areas, the Konami Group has continued to provide support through its business activities.

For instance, our employee association called the Konami Group Shain-kai has offered various programs by utilizing donations collected from the Konami Group employees, such as our "Exercise Program for Seniors" (Kesennuma, Miyagi) for the prevention of various disorders in seniors, including disuse syndrome and locomotive syndrome, and "Kids Dancing Class" (Rikuzentakata, Iwate) drawing on the expertise gained from the operation of the dancing class for children named "Dancing Stars" offered at Konami Sports Club facilities. In addition, we held a special event dubbed KONAMI Tohoku Reconstruction Assistance Event: "Cheering Everyone Up" (Kesennuma, Miyagi) in February 2017, where athletes from the Konami Sports Club Gymnastics Team enjoyed interacting with about one hundred children through gymnastics.

Some participants in the "Exercise Program for Seniors" said that the program was a great opportunity for them to markedly improve their bad posture. They also remarked that as elderly people tend to be unwilling to go out, the program gave them a good opportunity to move their body. Some children participated in the "Kids Dancing Class" said with smiles that they were glad to be able to move their body a lot, and it was so much fun. Their parents remarked that even though their kids are not normally physically active, dancing to the rhythm enabled kids to move their body. In addition, they hoped that they get the chance to do it again someday.

Shigeru Sugawara, the Mayor of Kesennuma, said, "We have continued to receive support from the Konami Group and its employee association since the following year of the disaster. Many residents in the affected areas are still forced to live in temporary housing where they cannot do enough exercise. Therefore, various programs continuously held by the Konami Group have helped the victims to some extent maintain good health, for which we greatly appreciate your continued support. We hope to provide such opportunities for the victims with the support of the Konami Group on an ongoing basis."

The Konami Group will continue to engage in a range of assistance efforts to support the reconstruction of the affected areas.
