Konami Digital Entertainment Co., Ltd. announces that the finals for PES LEAGUE WORLD TOUR 2018, the "Winning Eleven 2018" (overseas title: "PRO EVOLUTION SOCCER 2018") KONAMI official esports world championship, will take place in Barcelona, Spain on Saturday, July 21.
This esports world championship is an official KONAMI tournament that will determine the world’s greatest players of console title "Winning Eleven 2018." This season’s competition thus far has consisted of the Asia Round in January (held in Tokyo, Japan), the Americas Round in March (held in Buenos Aires, Argentina), and the Europe Round in May (held in Berlin, Germany). The top players in the World Tour ranking, as determined by points earned in each round, will now gather in Barcelona.
Beginning this season, in addition to the 1-on-1 matches of the Individual Division, there is now a 3-on-3 Team Division. The eight players of the Individual Division and the four teams of the Team Division will go head-to-head in the finals to determine the greatest Winning Eleven players in the world.
Making his appearance in the finals will be Naoki Sugimura (a.k.a. SOFIA), one of the two players who will represent Japan in the "Winning Eleven 2018" showcase competition to be held at the 18th Asian Games – Jakarta Palembang, beginning in Indonesia on Saturday, August 18. Sugimura, who triumphed in the Europe Round in May and currently sits at the number two position in the World Tour ranking, will battle against powerhouse players from countries such as Spain, France, Brazil, and Italy in the finals.
For the first time in the history of this esports world championship, a Japanese player is in the position to be crowned overall champion, and all the action will be livestreamed on the official streaming website next month.
