Konami Digital Entertainment Co., Ltd. announces that the inaugural finals of eSports tournament PAWAPURO Festival 2016, played through the Nippon Professional Baseball (NPB)-approved JIKKYOU PAWAFURU PUROYAKYU (PAWAPURO) series, will be held on Sunday, January 8th at Tokyo Big Sight, as part of strengthening KONAMI’s presence in eSports.
The KONAMI Group has been an NPB partner since 1999, with the goal of contributing to the growth of professional baseball. In addition, our PAWAPURO series, released since 1994, has helped increase the popularity of the sport as well. It is through our continued partnership with NPB, and with the aim of greater interaction with consumers, that we now hold this inaugural eSports competition through PAWAPURO Festival 2016.
This competition will decide the number one player of mobile game "JIKKYOU PAWAFURU PUROYAKYU" and console game "JIKKYOU PAWAFURU PUROYAKYU 2016" (PlayStation®4 version). The winners of preliminary rounds of competitions held around the country, including at Tokyo, Tokyo Game Show, Osaka, and the Pacific League-approved tournament, will gather to battle for the championship.
A variety of other events are planned for the same day. Further information will be posted on the PAWAPURO Festival 2016 special website (https://www.konami.com/pawa/fes/) as it becomes available.
KONAMI will continue to offer gamers around the world with fun exciting experiences through eSports initiatives.
