Konami Cross Media NY, Inc. Closes Licensing Agreement with Arcade1Up, Bringing Classic Frogger in Mini-Arcade Cabinet Format to the Home Entertainment Market
New York, NY February 25, 2020 – Frogger, the iconic and persistently popular video game franchise, will debut as a classic ¾ scale arcade cabinet for the home entertainment market for the first time, thanks to a new licensing agreement forged by Konami Cross Media NY, Inc. and Tastemakers, LLC., the company specializing in the manufacturing of Arcade1Up: affordable ¾ scale arcade cabinets for the at-home player.
The announcement was made today by Jennifer Coleman, Vice President of Licensing and Marketing at Konami Cross Media NY, Inc.
Frogger bounded in popularity in the 80s as players armed with joysticks helped the animated amphibians find their way home, navigating frog flattening road crossing and hazardous waterways. Frogger was so intrinsic to the 80s zeitgeist that it even had a comedic cameo appearance in the long-running NBC series “Seinfeld.”
Standing at just under 5-feet high with a riser, the new Frogger at-home arcade cabinet will feature the same gameplay as the original with the same music, joystick and buttons. It will also have an immersive full color, hi-res display and original artwork on its panels.
To the delight of fans and video game enthusiasts, Konami Cross Media NY, Inc. is also adding the Time Pilot and Time Pilot 84 arcade games to the Frogger arcade cabinet. Time Pilot, which was released by KONAMI in 1982, is a time travel-themed aerial combat game that allows the player’s plane to fly across open-air spaces.
