Special Issue Vinyl LP Soundtrack also Releasing for Contra’s 35th Anniversary Celebration
NEW YORK, NY September 12, 2022 – Konami Cross Media NY, Inc. has signed an agreement with Ship to Shore PhonoCo. the New York independent record label, to release vinyl LP soundtracks of Konami’s iconic gaming properties, Bomberman and Contra .
The announcement was made today by Jennifer Coleman, Vice President of Licensing and Marketing, Konami Cross Media NY.
Ship to Shore PhonoCo., which specializes in bringing collectors high quality releases of rare and hard to find music, is charged with issuing the first-ever original Bomberman vinyl LP soundtrack.
Containing the original Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) soundtracks to both 'Bomberman' and 'Bomberman II', this limited-edition vinyl features new artwork by Japanese artist, Maddie Copp and a fantastic zoetrope etching on the A-Side that recreates the sprites of the game when viewed. The soundtracks for 'Bomberman' and 'Bomberman II' launched earlier this year with further Bomberman releases, including fan favorite Bomberman Hero, planned for 2023.
Contra fans are in for an extraordinary collectible experience as Ship to Shore PhonoCo. will provide an explosive amount of music from the vast Contra series, with vinyl LPs representing every era of the franchise being released over a period of time, starting next year to commemorate Contra’s 35th anniversary.
Coleman said: “With its addictive techno/synthetic beat, the Bomberman and Contra soundtracks will provide fans with a dose of adrenaline that powers them through the most challenging parts of the games. We are pleased to partner with Ship to Shore PhonoCo. to give fans the chance to add to their listening pleasure with these memorable soundtracks.”
“The chiptune and synthesizer scores for both Bomberman and Contra are not only nostalgia-laden timeless masterpieces guaranteed to invoke the gaming days of your childhood, but also sensational pieces of composition in their own right,” added Aaron Hamel, co-founder of Ship to Shore PhonoCo.
Bomberman was originally launched in 1987 for NES as an action videogame. The game was originally developed by Hudson Soft and is currently owned by Konami Digital Entertainment. The newest version, 'Super Bomberman R', launched in 2017 for play on Nintendo Switch, in 2018 for Xbox and PlayStation 4. The Bomberman Brothers return in the upcoming 'Super Bomberman R 2', scheduled for release in 2023 and playable on Nintendo Switch, PlayStations 4 and 5, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One and Steam.
Contra is widely regarded as one of the most enduring and popular gaming titles of all time. Debuting in 1987, Contra became globally renowned for its high-octane side-scrolling action and trailblazing co-op gameplay. With the introduction of the Contra Micro Player and Pocket Player collectibles, players can celebrate their passion for the iconic title and reignite the adrenaline with elite commandos Bill Rizer and Lance Bean in a compact, playable form.
Konami Cross Media NY will also be an exhibitor at the upcoming Brand Licensing Europe (BLE) conference. Its stand is located at D131 with attendance from Kristen Gray, President, Konami Cross Media and Rie Oishi, Brand Director, Konami Cross Media.
