"Chill out guys, I got this."

Remind Me How the Infernity Deck Works

June 18th, 2010

Infernity Decks are one of the newest competitive Decks, made possible by the release of The Shining Darkness. Infernity Decks are unlike any other Deck. While most Duelists like to have a lot of cards in their hands, Infernity Duelists need to have no cards in their hands in order for them to use their best cards!

Most Infernity cards will only work for a Duelist with no cards in his hand. That’s why the Infernity Decks you see in tournaments don’t usually run a lot of monsters. Since you can only Normal Summon one monster each turn, drawing too many can clog up a Duelist’s hand. Spells and Traps, however, can be Set face-down immediately so you never have to worry about them getting stuck in your hand.

Infernity Decks usually rely on getting Infernity Archfiend, Infernity Necromancer, and Infernity Beetle into the Graveyard to win. That’s why they run cards like Foolish Burial and Infernity Inferno to send those monsters from the Deck to the Graveyard. Infernity Inferno also helps Duelists discard the unwanted cards in their hands. Once a Duelist gets those 3 monsters into the Graveyard, he can use a single copy of Infernity Mirage or Infernity Launcher to win the Duel!

It’s called “Go for the Gold!” and you’ll find nothing else quite like it.  Read more…

Damage Gate

June 15th, 2010

There are lots of monsters out there that Duelists want to use as often as possible because of their amazing effects that just happen to also have low ATK. For example, Rescue Cat’s effect to Special Summon 2 Level 3 or lower Beast-Type monsters is powerful enough to have an entire Deck built around it, even though Rescue Cat is Limited. Today we’re going to look at a card that lets you use these monsters’ effects more than once, by Special Summoning them from the Graveyard: Damage Gate from The Shining Darkness!

The distant, more successful cousin of Damage Condenser

Froggy Monarchs

June 14th, 2010

Frog Decks got a big power boost from Ronintoadin, but they aren’t the only Deck that won big from it. Monarch Decks can use it too! Rock Out with Koa’ki Meiru!

June 9th, 2010

Koa’ki Meiru monsters have lots of Attack Points and effects that can give your opponent nightmares. Most Koa’ki Meiru also require you to to discard an Iron Core of Koa’ki Meiru or reveal a monster of the same Type in your hand, during the End Phase to keep them on the field. Some of the most useful Koa’ki Meiru monsters are Rock-Types though, so they can work together to keep each other safe. Rock Decks also have quite a few other handy monsters to play around with, so a Deck using Rock-Type monsters and Rock-Type Koa’ki Meiru can work really well.

Dread Dragon

June 8th, 2010

There are a lot of different ways to play a Dragon Deck.  In the past, successful Duelists have relied on cards like Stamping Destruction and Burst Breath to make the most of a varied Dragon lineup.  They’ve combined DARK Dragons with The Dark Creator and Armageddon Knight to rush the field in 1 big turn.  Others have used Reckless Greed, Trade-In, and Cards of Consonance to draw huge numbers of cards with Super Rejuvenation.  They’re all very different strategies, and they all work.

Every time Dragons get a new monster, Dragon fans stand up and take notice.  There aren’t a lot of Level 2 Dragon-Type Tuners, so Dread Dragon from The Shining Darkness is a welcome addition.  It lets you Synchro Summon monsters that can be difficult for a Dragon Deck to unleash without a Level 2 Tuner, and its effect lets you add a Level 3 or lower Dragon from your Deck to your hand when it’s destroyed in battle.

Notice the Exploder Dragon in the corner is looking pretty swanky.

“Dread Dragon lets you search your Deck for lots of useful Dragon monsters – even another copy of itself.”
