Sometimes in the Yu-Gi-Oh! TRADING CARD GAME, you’ll run across complicated cards and situations that require some very specific Types, Attributes, Levels, ATK, and/or DEF to line up. It can be a challenge to find something to help you in those situations, but by using the Card Database, now you can easily zero in on extremely specific search results with ease.
The newest mermonsters, Mermail Abyssleed and Mermail Abyssteus are capable of some truly incredible feats. If Abyssleed resolves its effect even once in a Duel, your chances of winning go way up, and he has 2700 ATK to boot. Abyssteus transmutes merely OK hands into truly great hands. But the key to making the most of these monstrous beasts of the sea is the lovely Level 3 mermaids from Abyss Rising and Cosmo Blazer.
With strong showings at YCS Seattle and YCS Barcelona, the new Mermail strategy was quickly recognized as one of the deadliest Decks in Dueling today. Cards like Mermail Abyssmegalo and Atlantean Marksman combine to create unpredictable combos, demolishing your opponent’s field with destruction effects and putting big monsters on the warpath. In order to play them properly, or battle back against them, you need to know what the strategy can do. While we’ve talked about some of the simple combos before, recent YCS action showed off a handful of powerful moves that are a little more complicated. Here are some powerful plays that Mermail Decks can unleash out of nowhere!
Madolche Magileine is one of the marquee cards from Return of the Duelist, and one of the biggest stars of the Madolche strategy! But her effect makes her more than just a sweetie-pie in Madolche Decks. When you Normal Summon or Flip Summon her you can search your Deck for another Madolche monster, even another Magileine. If you can protect your first Magileine for one turn, Summoning the second makes for an easy Rank 4 Xyz Summon. When your opponent destroys Magileine, you shuffle her back into your Deck. So you can keep Summoning Magileine over and over to soak up damage while you gather the pieces of your strategy.
Since Magileine is a Level 4 Spellcaster-Type with the EARTH Attribute, she happens to slip into a number of strategies you might not suspect. Here are some ways she can add a little sweetness to some drastically different Decks.
The “Gagaga” monsters are all about Xyz Summoning: use the right ones, and you can unlock Xyz Monsters at almost any rank you choose! Today’s Gagaga Decks revolve around Gagaga Magician and Gagaga Girl: the Magician can change his Level to anything between 1 and 8, while his lovely assistant mimics that Level with her effect. Gagaga Magician was a Super Rare in Generation Force, and a common in Battle Pack: Epic Dawn, but Gagaga Girl was a tough-to-get Secret Rare, until now! Now she’s available as one of two possible Super Rare cards in Abyss Rising Special Edition, so it’s easier than ever before to build your very own Gagaga Deck.
So, what do you do when you can Xyz Summon almost anything? The sky’s the limit, but one of the best strategies actually uses Gagaga Girl’s secondary ability to make a devastating combo win. Check it out!
